Right then, I took advantage to upgrade from W7 to W10, everything went well except that the screen displays at a wider angle than it should i.e.
Microsoft Basic Display Adapter 2015 Windows 10 On ItI just installed a new hard drive and the techs suggested it was a good idea to put fresh Windows 10 on it.
Microsoft Basic Display Adapter 2015 Upgrade From W7It was originally W7, later upgraded to 8 and then 8.1. Im generally impressed with the new OS except that it does not offer 1366 x 768 resolution, which is what my monitor wants. Is there anything I can do besides: (1) buying a new monitor to replace a perfectly good one; (2) Reverting to 8.1; or (3) living with the various forms of distortion with the options provided Ive looked online to see if there is a driver for this available, but cant find one. I was somewhat shocked at the prices, but even more shocked that of the 10 or 12 that I checked out, none had any of the resolution choices offered by Win 10. Or at least I do. Click on the setting you want then confirm it. Usually the video cardadapter has a big impact on what the monitor can do. I have an Add-in AMD Radeon HD 6600 1GB PCIe X16 card that can only go to 1920x1080 but I prefer 1440x900, doesnt shown by number until I move the slide button down until it shows up. It has to be there. The only time I have seen the display options not be available is if Windows 10 does not install a proper graphics driver and reverts to showing the graphics card as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter in Device Manager. So, Wadi, what is your Device Manager showing as your display adapter I have seen many reports of problems with Intel graphics where the proper drivers do not get installed. Microsoft Basic Display Adapter 2015 Free Edition OtherSeagate Barracuda 500MB-Backup drive Internet Speed: 60mbps Browser: Internet Explorer 11 Antivirus: Panda Antivirus free edition Other Info: Windows Firewall, no overclocks. I dont have time to try them tonight but will look into them tomorrow. The weekend was busy so I just finally got around to the problem again. My native resolution (1366 X 768) is definitely not on the list to choose from. It took a while, but I finally found my device manager and, sure enough, it is shown as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. When the problem first surfaced, I suspected a driver problem, so went to a site that said it would check and update any drivers for Windows 10. How do I get the correct driver for the monitor I went to the manufacturers site (Asus) but it appears this model is no longer supported. I looked through my huge pile of CDs that came with my various bits of hardware, including many I dont even have any more, but cant find anything related to the monitor. Seems the monitors relied upon the video cardadapter for everything. I have a few problems, Ill just list them and what I know because frankly I cant think of the answers. Even working with computers as a job Im still mind blown by some of these. Sorry if this has been asked and answered before (if it has can anyone direct me to the solution).
